A one-day training camp aimed at developing the knowledge, attitude, and skills of the 1st Matara Scout Group was successfully held on 17th June 2024 at the School premises.

For the opening ceremony of this training camp, Matara District Scout Commissioner Mr. Sudath Mangala, School Deputy Principal Mr. J. Jayawardene, Matara District Assistant District Scout Commissioner Mr. Manoj Geeganage, School Old Scout Mr. Udara Thilakarathne, Old Boys’ Association’s current Vice President Mr. Jeevan Yapa, School Scout Master Dr. Pradeep Hettiarachi and School Assistant Scout Master Dr. Oshan Manamperi also participated.

During the training camp, Mr. Weerasumana Weerasinghe, Member of Parliament for Matara District, a famous presidential scout born from St. Thomas’ College – Matara, addressed the scouts by sharing his scouting experience.

Also in this camp, activities and workshops on fire hazards and their protection, an observation tour covering Matara prison premises and Matara Star Fort premises, a first aid workshop, potless cooking activities, skills training and certificate awarding etc. were conducted.
