For 125 years, St. Thomas’ College and St. Servatius’ College have battled on the cricket field, making the Battle of the Blues – Ruhuna one of the most iconic rivalries in Sri Lankan school cricket. Since the inaugural match in 1900, this encounter has been more than just a game—it has been a tradition, a legacy, and a breeding ground for legends.
This match has united generations, shaping young talents into national icons. Among them, cricketing stars like Sanath Jayasuriya, Indika De Seram, Ruchira Palliyaguru, Kasun Rajitha, and Prabath Nissanka have made their mark on the international stage. Their journey began here, fueled by the passion and competitive spirit of this historic rivalry.
Over the years, St. Thomas’ College has claimed 33 victories, while St. Servatius’ College has secured 27 wins. The most recent triumph came in 2007 under the captaincy of Tharaka Dushshayntha for St. Thomas’ College, while St. Servatius’ College last lifted the trophy in 1971 under Nimal Munaweera’s leadership.
