Father N.G. Ondatjee
In the year 1818, two missionaries of the Church Missionary Society of England (C.M.S) came to Galle and traveled to different parts of the island and started small schools. As a school belonging to this CMC family, St. Thomas’ College, Matara was founded by Father N.G. Ondachchi, a CMSP priest in the small village of Matara Wellamadama. This school, which started at a very simple level, became a public school in 1960.
